Eco-projects & charities World in Mind

When you recycle your mobile, shop at Our Green Shop or offset your flight's carbon with us, we donate the profits to charities, eco-projects or UN-certified carbon reduction projects.

WWT

A leading conservation organisation, the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a UK charity protecting wetlands for wildlife and people. It has nine specialist wetland visitor centres and raises awareness of the issues affecting this unique habitat.

Rainforest Concern

With 19 rainforest conservation projects in 12 countries, from Brazil to India, the UK charity Rainforest Concern protects threatened natural habitats, the biodiversity they contain and the indigenous people who depend on them for survival.

Bayin'aoboa Wind Farm Inner Mongolia

With 33 wind turbines, the farm will save the equivalent CO2 of taking 22,300 cars off the road. It will provide jobs for locals and cut the dependency of coal, supplying renewable energy in one of the poorest areas of China.

Faxinal dos Guedes Power Plant Brazil

Using the natural flow of the Chapecozinho River, with little or no alteration, the plant will cut coal use and increase power reliability in the area. The CO2 it will cut is equivalent to 8,103 Brazilian households no longer producing CO2 a year.

Xiaohe Power Plant China

Using the run of the Daxia River in Gansu Province, with little or no alteration, this hydro-electric plant will bring almost $15 million in external investment and tax revenue and help the community break from poverty, improve their infrastructure and grow small businesses.

What is carbon offsetting?

You can offset the carbon (CO2) produced by your flight by paying a small contribution towards projects that reduce the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere.

Why is C02 a bad thing?

CO2 is a greenhouse gas created when fossil fuels, like oil, gas and coal, are burnt.

Greenhouse gas creates a blanket that keeps the Earth's surface at the right temperature and sustains life. But when too much CO2 is released, the blanket thickens and our atmosphere heats up.
