Over 1,000 guests joined us for the day, which had all the essentials of a British summer event: picnics, ice-cold PIMM’s and polo matches.
We wanted to thank some of our most loyal AIRMILES members as we celebrated our 20th anniversary.
So we swapped our business of free flights for the game of polo, hosting the AIRMILES Polo Challenge Trophy at the Sussex Polo Club.
We even entered two teams ourselves, one captained by our MD, Andrew Swaffield, and the other made up of professional polo players from the UK and Republic of Ireland.
The whole day went with a swing - from the unexpected sunshine to ‘Lennie the land train’ who took guests to the private AIRMILES marquee (a real hit with the kids) and the picnic lunches, champagne and PIMM's (a real hit with the grown-ups).
The raffle proved a big hit too, with winners collecting prizes like four Eurostar Leisure Select tickets and an iPod nano with 40 free iTunes.
Then, of course, there was the business of the day - the polo.
A big ‘congratulations’ goes to the WRP Executive polo team, who won the tournament and the much-coveted AIRMILES Challenge Trophy – and a whopping 100,000 Airmiles!
But let’s not forget the other teams who provided the entertainment for the day, with five polo matches.
Including our very own AIRMILES team, made up of our MD, Andrew Swaffield; his PA, Anita Dennington; our Internal Communications Executive, Chon Donnelly; and professional polo player Patricio Furlong.
And it wasn’t just the polo players that made the day - all the loyal Airmiles members who cheered, sipped Pimm's and picnicked in the sunshine gave us a great time.
In fact, it was all so much fun, we’re already thinking about hosting more special events for our loyal members.
Of course, we can’t always guarantee the sunshine!
